The Flight

As already mentioned on the Tippler-page Tipplers are very calm pigeons, which also shows itself in their flight. I have often the impression, that they only fly calmly after approximately 2 hours: then they show the “butterfly-flight”. That´s a type of flying that results from the strength-sparing flight in which only the primary pinions are moved. This then looks like the pigeons were gliding. The Tipplers always fly closely together as a group, in different heights and differently sized loops, so that they are not seen for about 10-15 minutes. There are also times when you can always see them. My Tipplers don´t fly very high, about lower height. That has resulted that way. Tipplers that always flew high were regularly captured by their enemies. When they don´t fly very high their chances are good that they can flee into the nearby forest when attacked.
