Tippler

tipplerThe Tippler is In my opinion the most fascinating pigeon ever to have been bred. Being calm in nature and in flight, it doesn´t loose it´s head like many other Height Flyers. Giving up is not attributed to the Tippler. An enemy attack doesn´t mean that it does not fly the next day. Bad weather rarely has an impact. Even when it rains the Tippler can fly 10 hours without getting especially wet. What I have noticed with my Tipplers is: high temperatures above 32°C give them trouble and they land earlier than usual. The most fantastic thing about Tipplers is that they voluntarily fly 5-7 hours without much training. Since they are mostly flying in sight of the pigeonry they could land whenever they want to, but the Tippler just is a real Flight pigeon! At the sixth DFU competition on the 11.8.07 three of my hatchlings with age 63/65 days flew 14,10 hours. Outcomes like this prove adequately the will to fly that this breed has.

The origin of the Tipplers probably lies in the Indian/Persian cultural area. There are other Flight pigeon breeds that come from this area too. They came to England with ships and were “refined” there by breeders resulting in the performance-pigeon of today. Their correct name in german is “Englischer Flugtippler”. Luckily they don´t have to look according to sample (If you want to display your Tippler, there is always the “Exposition-Tippler”). For this reason the Tipplers can vary in size and appearance, depending on their origin. They are a little bit smaller than city pigeons and appear in almost all pigeon colours, which has absolutely no significance on the flying performance.
